In Search of Activist Stories...
In search of activst
I’m Juliana, Activist Explorer. I’m foraging for fiction that centers activists and social movements.
Why? To counter erasure and stereotyping we need authentic portrayals of activists fighting for justice, peace, and planet, show our daily struggles in the belly of the beast.
We need mysteries, dramas, adventure, romance, thrillers, comedy–all perfect vehicles for taking us into the heart of how people make change–not as isolated individuals or superheroes, but as communities acting together.

But where are these stories?

We need stories that help us remember our collective power to make a better world.

About Juliana
Juliana Barnet is a lifelong activist, popular educator, and avid fiction reader. Annoyed by the dearth of activist characters in novels and movies, she decided to start writing—and encouraging others to write—stories centering the joys and struggles of activist life.
She writes essays on activist culture and reviews of fiction featuring activists, and works with writers young and old on integrating creative writing into movement building.
